What is Mobilegeddon? 

On April 21, 2015, Google released a significant new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm that’s designed to give a boost to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search results.

(Sometimes it’s also referred to as mobilepocalypse, or mopocalypse.)

Mobile digital media time in the US is now significantly higher at 51% compared to desktop (42%). (July 2015)

According to CNN, “Americans used smartphone and tablet apps more than PCs to access the Internet (in January 2014) — the first time that has ever happened.”

Use this link for Google’s free testing tool. If it reveals that your site is not mobile optimized, know that your site is going to be downgraded in search results. Test Here.   Most important for mobile:

  • BIG BUTTONS, ELEMENTS STACK

  • FONT SIZING CONSTRAINED

  • CLEAR NAVIGATION (MENU)

The overall user experience is what is important.  Fortune 100 companies average 5 seconds in page load times for their mobile websites.

That’s two seconds faster than the average acceptable standard. (7 seconds max).
